Broughton Island is situated just off the coast, off Bennett’s Beach. It is only accessible by boat and is a National Park with sheltered bays.
The island is just over 1km sq, and has only 5 campsites for those wanting a true overnight adventure. For day trippers, swimming and snorkeling is the key activity.
We booked on the ‘Moonshadow Spirit of Port Stephens’ tour. The boat left from Nelson Bay Marina (1 hr drive from Sandy Feet). The tour was a full day including lunch.

The weather for our trip was perfect, warm with no wind or swell. The trip out to the island included several detours chasing Dolphins.
On arrival we had 2hrs to our selves to explore the island, snorkel and have lunch.

The snorkeling was excellent, with lots of fish and other underwater life being seen. The crew also did a sting ray feeding session which the kids loved.

Overall, a fantastic day out. If you want more information on the cruise check it out here – https://moonshadow-tqc.com.au/cruises/broughton-island-cruise/
