Sugarloaf Lighthouse Day Trip

On a misty winters day, we headed out for a day trip to Seal Rocks and the Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse.

Sugarloaf Light

Seal Rocks is about an hours drive from Hawks Nest. It is a small village on the edge of the National Park just south of Forster.

The lighthouse is about a 800m walk from the car park down a relatively flat, paved path and through beautiful bushland. The last 100m to the lighthouse Keepers Cottages and the Light itself is quite steep.

The lighthouse was built in 1875 and electrified in the 1950’s. The light lamp is lit from dusk to dawn everyday and the glass lens is still cleaned everyday. The light has saved countless disasters.

Back in Seal Rocks, the Post Office / General Store is worth a look and the Coffee from the little Caravan next door is pretty good!

In all, a pretty good day trip!
