Hiking up Mt Yacaaba

One of our favorite things to do on a sunny day is to hike to the summit of Mt Yacaaba, the large headland at the end of Bennett’s Beach.

The walk is about 8km return, with most of it along the beach to the base of the mountain. Although only 205m above sea level, the climb is quite steep and certainly gets the heart racing.

At the end of the beach, the track is well signposted and as soon as you enter the track you start to climb.

There are 2 lookouts on the track to the summit. One after a 1km climb (fairly easy) and the summit lookout which is a much steeper climb, but only for 550m or so.

The views are well worth the effort, you can see across to Hawks Nest village and onto Tea Gardens and then North you can see to Broughton Island and onto Seal Rocks.
